LIGHTBULB
Supervisor & Manager
Training Programme

Giving Your Supervisors & Line Managers the Confidence to Manage their Team, So You Can Manage the Business

"Managers who have the room to learn and grow will be 3.5x more likely to be happy and engaged and 3.3x more likely to want to stay at their organization." (Source: Glint data)
As your company grows, so does your team.  But along with these new employees comes new responsibilities, that of managing people.

The experienced employees take on extra responsibilities and gain Supervisor and Manager titles. But just because they have the title doesn’t automatically mean they know how to be a great people manager!

That's where the Lightbulb Programme comes in!

"It has been an absolute pleasure working with Nikie on the Lightbulb management development programme.  Each session was hugely informative and great fun.  In 4 short weeks I now have the tools to go forward and be a better Manager and guide the rest of my team to success.  Nikie’s approach to training is so refreshing and like nothing I’ve done before.  There was never a dull moment, and I was fully engaged the entire time.  My whole working style has changed for the better already and I feel a new sense of passion for my role.  To anyone looking to build on your management skills then look no further!  Thank you Nikie!"  Lisa Atkins-Gough  Operations Manager

The Lightbulb Programme is for your manager/s if:

  • They are new to their role
  • They are experienced but unclear on their job role
  • They send mix messages and don't get the outcomes they expect
  • They struggle to communicate effectively with all levels
  • They could be more proactive in their one-to-one meetings
  • They are too blunt or too timid when setting expectations
  • They put off giving feedback
  • Or you simply want to support them to succeed in their role

“Learning with Nikie was an absolute joy. I loved every session with her, as they were always very unique, informative and fun.  Nikie’s organisational skills and ability to tailor each session was fantastic. Each session felt bespoke for the target audience which made learning easier. She makes it very captivating in an environment which is not always easy to do. The support she offers throughout, and even after the course has finished is amazing. I feel as though she is always by my side if I need her! I couldn’t think of anyone better to recommend for Management Development training! Thank you Nikie!”   Oliver Whitford - Production Supervisor

"Nikie's is someone I would highly recommend, especially for leadership and management development programmes. She is highly proficient, very focused and seeks to achieve the best outcome for both company and staff. What will the Programme Focus On?

Having developed Managers for almost 20 years, I've recognised the themes that create the best people managers.  I've used these themes to design a 6-part programme that builds confidence and competence in all levels of Line Managers.
  • Meet & Greet - (Virtual gathering to get to know the learner/s)
  • Session 1 - The ROLE of a Supervisor/Line Manager in YOUR company
  • Session 2 - How to COMMUNICATE with EVERYONE better
  • Session 3 - Getting people to actually DO STUFF
  • Session 4 - Be CONSISTENTLY GOOD at managing people
  • So, what's changed? - (Virtual follow up session to review changes made)

In More Detail:

The ROLE of a Supervisor/Line Manager in YOUR company
Being called a Supervisor or Line Manager is one thing, actually understanding how that translates into everyday behaviours and responsibilities is entirely different.  In this session we'll work through what the team, culture and business expect from this role and what this means for development.

EXPECTED OUTCOME: To be able to confidently explain their role as a line manager and prioritise at least 2 areas of development.

Picture
How to COMMUNICATE with EVERYONE better
Communication is one of the key concern of almost every company.  This is usually because different people want different things.  Understanding more about personality preferences is a sure fire way to boost communication.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES: To be able to identify their own communications preference and those of other stakeholder in the business. To explore current communication activities with their team and possible improvements.

Getting people to actually DO STUFF
You may think that you've been clear, but then nothing happens as you expect!  Chances are it's down to how you set your expectations and standards.  In this session we'll focus on the difference between 'having an expectation' and 'establishing an expectation', and how to give informal and formal feedback to ensure these expectation are met.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES: To be able set clear expectations for all, and follow this through with effective Feedback.

Be CONSISTENTLY good at Managing People
Being an effective manager of people is not a one off event! It takes time and consistency.  That's why in this last session we'll focus on what's right for your team and company in providing this on-going support for employees AND the Supervisors and Line Managers.    Including identifying hidden talents and how to keep everything going through effective One-to-Ones.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES: To be able to match direct reports talents to tasks with positive results. To create effective one-to-ones to ensure continued professional line management visibility. To identify personal future development to continue being current regardless of changes in the business or to the team.

Making virtual learning engaging!

You might think virtually training might be all boring PowerPoint slides and one way speeches... Not on the Lightbulb programme!  Every participant receives a learning pack containing a workbook and training resources, which alongside some interactive sharing software ensures every session is hands-on and engaging.
