Now that you've built your duck, given it a name, considered where it lives, and what it does for a living... I'd like you to TAKE IT APART, and build a different duck!

How to use this activity with your own learners:
- Hand out the same six bricks to each of your learners.
- Instruct them to 'Build a Duck.' (Give no other instructions.)
- Once everyone has built their ducks, ask them to hold them aloft and show everyone else.
- Now ask them to 'Give your duck a name, consider where it lives, and what it does for a living.'
- Depending on the size of the group, get them in pairs or groups, and introduce their ducks to everyone. This step helps them become invested in their ducks.
- Once everyone has introduced their ducks, let them know you have more instructions.
- "Take your duck apart." Look out for how people respond to this instruction. Some will be visibly distressed, some may gasp, other won't be bothered at all.
- Ask them to "Build a different duck." and hold these up.
- DEBRIEF: Ask your learners how they felt when change was enforced on them. Look for different perspectives. Often people become attached to a certain way of doing things, an idea, or a routine etc and when they have to change this, they may react differently.
